Bellaire mornings move fast. There's school drop-off, a commute toward the Galleria, Greenway Plaza or the Medical Center, and a dog at home with more energy than a long day on the couch can use. If you're looking for dog daycare near Bellaire, Pawliday Inn is a short drive south in southwest Houston, on Cedarhurst Dr. Your dog gets a full day of supervised play with dogs at a similar energy level, and you get a workday without worrying about them.
Why Bellaire families look for dog daycare
Bellaire is its own small city, surrounded by Houston. It's known for family streets and a steady stream of new construction, where older ranch houses have been replaced with larger two-story homes. That shapes what families here need from daycare.
Busy family schedules
Many Bellaire households have school-age kids, two working adults, or both. A young Lab, shepherd or doodle left home all day often turns that unused energy into chewing, barking or digging. A few daycare days a week give that energy somewhere to go.
Yards that shrank when the house grew
When a bigger house goes up on a Bellaire lot, the yard often gets smaller. A backyard can work fine for potty breaks and still not have room for a dog who needs to run. Our play yards give dogs room to move and other dogs to move with.
Construction on the block
With so much building on Bellaire streets, plenty of dogs spend months next to saws, nail guns and trucks backing up. Some dogs don't care. Others pace and bark at the window all day. If your street, or your own house, is a work zone, daycare is a calmer place to spend the day.
Getting to Pawliday Inn from Bellaire
Pawliday Inn is south of Bellaire in southwest Houston, near Westbury and Willow Meadows. From Bellaire, you head south across Brays Bayou into southwest Houston and on toward Cedarhurst Dr. When you're close, look for the larger-than-life dog mural on our building. It's hard to miss.
Be honest with yourself about the route. If you already head south or west for work or school, a stop with us fits easily into the morning. If you work downtown or in the Texas Medical Center, it's a detour south before you turn back toward the city. Plenty of families make it work, but plan around the morning check-in window below.
What a daycare day looks like
Daycare at Pawliday Inn is full-day. Here's the basic rhythm:
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. | Check-in. Drop off on your way to work or after school drop-off. |
| Through the day | Outdoor play in yards separated by energy level, with rest time and snack breaks. |
| 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. | Check-out. Pick up on your way home. |
Our hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday by appointment. Late pick-up after 6:30 p.m. has a fee. If you're coming back from the Medical Center or the Galleria at rush hour, especially on a rainy afternoon, build in a buffer.
Play yards separated by energy level
A wild one-year-old and a mellow eight-year-old don't want the same kind of day. We separate play yards by energy level, so dogs play with others who match their style. Your rowdy adolescent can wrestle and chase. Your calmer dog can sniff around and hang out without getting run over.
Rest and snack breaks
Good daycare isn't nonstop play. Dogs get rest time and snack breaks through the day, which helps them stay settled and keeps play from boiling over. Most dogs go home pleasantly tired, not frazzled.
Optional add-ons
If you'd like a little extra for your dog, you can add:
- A short walk
- An extra meal
- An enrichment treat
Starting with a free meet and greet
Every dog starts with a free meet and greet. There's no cost. It's a chance for your dog to see the place and for us to get to know them before their first full day. If you're curious what that first day looks like from drop-off to pick-up, read our guide to your dog's first day of daycare.
Before your dog joins daycare, a few requirements apply:
- Current Rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccinations, plus regular flea, tick and intestinal parasite prevention. Our article on vaccines required for boarding and daycare explains each one.
- Please tell us about any known behavior, such as aggression, fearfulness, resource guarding, separation anxiety, escape tendencies, or prior bites or injuries.
- We may refuse service to dogs that don't meet the requirements or that show signs of illness or a contagious condition.
You can book online. A card on file is required.
Daycare for a regular weekly schedule
Most Bellaire families who use daycare settle into a pattern, such as two or three set days a week, or every weekday during a stretch of heavy work travel or construction. We offer prepaid day packages for regular visitors, and a multi-dog discount if you have more than one dog. Rates change, so see current rates on our homepage.
For more on how daycare works across all our guests, visit our main dog daycare in Houston page.
When you travel, too
Daycare dogs already know our staff and our yards, which can make a first overnight stay feel less strange. When Bellaire families head out for spring break, summer trips or the holidays, our dog boarding in Houston is staffed 24/7, with breakfast and dinner, three scheduled potty breaks and free yard play.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer half-day daycare?
Our daycare is full-day. Check-in is from 7 to 10 a.m. and check-out is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
How do I get my dog started?
Book a free meet and greet. Have your dog's vaccine records ready, and tell us about anything we should know about their behavior or history.
Our street is under construction. Will daycare help?
For many dogs, yes. A day away from the noise, with play and rest, is often calmer than a day at the window. If your dog is very anxious in general, talk with your vet too.
Do you offer a discount for two dogs?
Yes. We have a multi-dog discount and prepaid day packages. See current rates on our homepage, or call us at (346) 522 4472.
